Avatars are deleted after modifying reviews

ImAHuman 3 weeks ago updated by Josh 1 week ago 8

Hello! I'm using the WP Review Slider Pro plugin and encountered an issue where, after modifying the reviews, the avatar of the author of the modified and saved review gets deleted. It disappears from the folder: https://site.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-review-slider-pro/public/partials/avatars/file-name.jpg.

Interestingly, the image still appears in the plugin's admin panel, but I believe that's just a cache issue, as the image's path still points to the folder specified in the "Reviewer Pic URL," but as you might have guessed, the file is no longer there. Initially, I temporarily solved the problem by grabbing the avatar from the cache and re-uploading it to the destination folder, but doing this for every review isn't a viable solution. Moreover, the image will be deleted again after any modification to the review.

  1. The reviews were collected using Google Crawl Remote.
  2. I’m not ready to delete and parse the reviews again, as I manually translated a large number of reviews into another language.
  3. The files in the folder have 664 permissions.

I hope for your prompt assistance.

Sorry -

  1. The files in the folder have 644 permissions.

That's strange. I'll take a look.

Also, there is a Translate tool on the Tools tab that will automatically translate the review text. just fyi

Even changing the permissions on 444 doesn't solve the issue. Avatars are still being deleted even under this condition. Regarding auto-translation, I assume it's done through Google Translate, which isn't perfect. For a small number of reviews, I think it would be better to provide a 'proper' translation for each one.

Can you give the Beta version 12.1.7 a try? Just go to the Account page inside the plugin and check the "Join the Beta program" check box. Then the beta version should show up after a page refresh.

Hi!
Update to Beta version 12.1.7 error

cURL error 35: OpenSSL SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com:443

Is there any info saying which line of code is throwing that error? I can't narrow it down if I don't know where it is coming from.

Let me know how to check it, and I'll do that. In short, this error occurs when clicking the 'Update Now' button in the 'Plugins' section and the same happens when clicking 'Run Updates Now [12.1.7]' in the 'Dashboard' section of your plugin

Do you mind translating that to English so I can read it? It seems to be coming from the Freemius licensing side of the plugin.

Here is a zip file of the beta version. You can unzip and FTP it up to the site and just overwrite the plugin files.
